[Lab Validation Notes] Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich): Service Catalog

This post shares learning notes from troubleshooting lab validation issues encountered while working through the Service Catalog module in the Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich) course. It focuses on common error messages you may encounter if the validation fails.

 

Note: Some labs assume you are continuing from previous modules and still impersonating Platform User, even if this is not explicitly stated in the task instructions.

 

We're fast approaching the end of this course with another short task. The aim is to provide you with hands-on experience of the concepts covered in the Service Catalog Lesson content including:

  • Navigating the Service Catalog
  • Adding catalog items to your cart
  • Ordering catalog items
  • Exploring lists for Requests (REQ), Requested Items (RITM), and Catalog Tasks (SCTASK)

I only encountered one validation error when trying to validate the task

 

  1. Did you successfully order the Telephone Extension (IP 560 Phone) and Adobe Acrobat Pro from the Service Catalog?
    This error is linked to steps 1-10 in the task instructions.

    After navigating to the 'Telephone Extension (IP 560 Phone' catalog item, ensure that you click 'Add to Cart' and not 'Order Now'.

    Tip: To quickly return to the list of categories, you can use the shortcuts contained within the breadcrumbs at the top of the screen, simply click on 'Service Catalog' and you'll return to the category list.

    When browsing the software category, make sure to select 'Adobe Acrobat Pro' and not 'Acrobat' as these are different catalog items and the validation will be checking for Adobe Acrobat Pro.

 

These notes reflect my experience troubleshooting lab validation errors while working through this task and form part of a series documenting common lab validation issues encountered while completing the Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich) course. As I continue building my skills as a Junior Developer, I hope these posts help other learners navigate similar challenges.
