The CAD Blueprint on https://www.servicenow.com/content/dam/servicenow/other-documents/training/blueprint-cad-kingston.pd... states that for the CAD exam, in order to get the voucher, the following courses are required:
• Scripting in ServiceNow Fundamentals
• Application Development Fundamentals
However, further below it says that
"Upon completion of Application Development Fundamentals course, the candidate will be
eligible to obtain or purchase a nontransferable voucher code"
From that wording it seems that the "Application Development Fundamentals" would actually be sufficient.
So, I don't understand - if I do NOT book the "Scripting in SNOW Fundamentals" course but only the "Application Development Fundamentals" - would I then still get the voucher and be eligible? It sounds like it.
On the "Application Development Fundamentals" page (https://learning.servicenow.com/lxp?id=learning_course_prev&course_id=c69e23751b80dd50000d6adb234bcb...), it lists the Scripting course under "Prerequisites" but not as "Required". And I already see a "Pay and Begin" button.
Does the system check before I buy the App Dev Fundamentals course whether I already got the Scripting course?
It's not clear to me whether "Prerequisites" means "Recommended" or actually "Required", because the blueprint and then the UI options to pay and buy for courses are a bit confusing/contradictory to me.
It's also not clear to me, or adds to my confusion, why on https://www.servicenow.com/services/training-and-certification/journey/#/lessons/fR9nXKD-GIM_19cuHds... the "Application Development Fundamentals" is written in bold, while "Scripting in ServiceNow Fundamentals" is not (under section "Required Training for the CAD Exam").

Hi there,
I believe the Scripting in ServiceNow Fundamentals course is required in addition to the Application Development Fundamentals course. Here is how the CAD learning path shows up from Now Learning > Certification > Get Certified > Developer:

Thanks for that, that's also the info I kind of extracted from the pdf, but it conflicts with the details in the pdf.
Why is one named "Pre-Requisites" and the other section "Requirements"? Why isn't then everything simply a "Requirement". And why can I already book the Dev Fundamentals without the Scripting Fundamentals?
I opened a support ticket but haven't gotten a reply there since 4 days, so trying my luck here.
But based on the learning path in your screenshot, it's still not clear whether it's really a hard requirement or just a recommendation. It seems that I can already book the courses in step 2 right away.
Did you take the CAD exam yourself yet? I'm basically looking for a definite confirmation either by somebody from SNOW or somebody who did the CAD exam and went through this path, eventually without doing the scripting part.

Yeah the documentation isn't always accurate or clear for which classes you actually need to take... From my understanding the Scripting Fundamentals class is supposed to be a pre-requisite for the Dev Fundamentals class, and then completing Dev Fundamentals gives you the exam voucher for CAD.
If you're able to book Dev Fundamentals without having already completed Scripting fundamentals, then my hunch is that once you complete the course it will give you the CAD exam voucher regardless of having completed Scripting Fundamentals or not.
I do have my CAD, but I first achieved it back in 2017 so it's been quite some time and a lot has changed since then. For what it's worth, I did take both Scripting Fundamentals and Dev Fundamentals before taking the exam back then -- but again, the fact that Now Learning is letting you enroll in the Dev Fundamentals course without having completed the Scripting Fundamentals course leads me to believe that you don't really need to complete Scripting Fundamentals and you will receive your exam voucher regardless.

Short: it's a recommendation.
