Assignment Group empties when Assigned to is populated for the first time

Hi, when an incident is created through an inbound action, the Assignment group field is populated, however, when I fill the Assigned to field and save the record (the person is in the said assignment group) the Assignment group field clears. This only happens the first time I try to assign someone. It is not from the client scripts, I double-checked. Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any ideas why this might be happening?
