Group name changing

what is the Process to change a group name  which is coming from AD to ServiceNow .

or simply changing group name  in ServiceNow  will work ?

This is one of those important fundamental questions which could have many different responses.

Whilst of course you could easily change and manage the name in ServiceNow, for me, the name should be always managed and mastered in the source system to ensure consistency across the enterprise and other apps. (This is in the perfect world where everything is easily achieved and possible - but I appreciate this is not always the case).

 

The good thing is, ServiceNow will let you have complete control of the name and management of the group if required, but for consistency and having had experience where changes differ through an enterprise, if a group is mastered in AD, then let all changes be managed in the AD - ideally.
