Hello Community,
I am currently working on a project where I need to utilize user groups in ServiceNow. I understand that a child group can inherit the roles of its parent group, but I'm curious about the broader use cases and benefits of having a parent and child group structure.
Could you please explain the primary purpose of parent and child user groups in ServiceNow? Apart from the role inheritance, in what scenarios is this hierarchical group structure particularly useful?
Thank you for your insights!
Thanks,
Prashant

You already mentioned half the reason this is used, for role inheritance. The other half of that is that it, along with giving child groups the same role, you can granularly control things by groups where you may not want a child group to have access to something and the Group is being checked for access, or functionality to work differently. A good example of this is a module of My Group's Work, even though both groups could have the same roles, they would see totally different results in this module.
