Seeking Career Advice & Opportunities: Transitioning from Full-Stack (PHP/MySQL) to ServiceNow ITSM

Hi ServiceNow Community,

I am looking for some guidance and leads as I pivot my career into the ServiceNow ecosystem.

With 5 years of experience in Full Stack Development (Core PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and ERP systems), I have a strong foundation in building complex web applications. Recently, I have been dedicatedly upskilling in ServiceNow (ITSM Module) using my PDI.

What I have covered so far:

  • Scripting: Client-side and Server-side scripting (Business Rules, UI Policies, Client Script).

  • Flow Designer: Creating and managing automated workflows.

  • Service catalog: creating item for request laptop, order guide for onboard new employee.
  • ITSM: Understanding Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

  • Data Handling: Import Sets & Transform Maps (Uploading Excel data to ServiceNow) and creating Database Views for reporting.

As an Immediate Joiner, I am eager to apply my 5 years of logic-building experience to a ServiceNow Developer role.

I would love your suggestions on:

  1. Which companies are currently open to hiring lateral entries (Experienced devs switching to ServiceNow)?

  2. Are there any specific platforms or communities where ServiceNow-specific jobs are frequently posted?

  3. Any feedback on my profile transition?

If your team is hiring or if you have any advice for me, please drop a comment or DM. Your support would mean a lot!

 Hi 18jadhavkom

First thing is that Its good that you have prepared yourself for the Servicenow Developer Role.

If you get a chance , definitely it is a good decision as ServiceNow is trending in market.

Just want to say, at beginning of this transition, do not stick to Servicenow developer role. If you get any chance with any role - start it as at your experience , ServiceNow project experience is very much required.

Please mark this response as Helpful & Accept it as solution if it assisted you with your question.

Hey @18jadhavkom, technically you're well prepared to jump on the band wagon. Depending from where you are from, you probably can join the Rise Up program or local initiatives to get in touch with people from the ecosystem and get some certificates. I would recommend to find an experienced head hunter with a focus on ServiceNow or if you're eager to apply by your own, I would use the SN partner finder to find partners, that cover your region and are of your interest.
