Ai Search Fallback Returning no Matches

I'm noticing that the ai search isn't returning any KB or catalog matching results when searching relevant keywords. I duplicated the OOB AI Search Fallback topic block and enabled it via 'Custom Greetings and Setup' to ensure that the search is indeed being called.

I'm observing the search following the 'No Results' flow.

I'm searching by keyword for KB articles and catalog items by name. These are items that have been configured for the specific portal I am testing on.

Could I be missing a plugin here? I have Virtual Agent Application installed.

Do I need to configure the search further? I was expecting this to be returning results OOB.

Thank you!

OOTB, the Default Chat Experience should be linked to the default AI Search configuration, so if I recall, the only thing really needed to do to get it to work was to index the AI Search Sources. There should be one for Catalog Items, Knowledge Articles, and Users - open each search source you want, then click "Index All Tables" on the top-right corner. The articles may take a few minutes to index if you have a lot, but see how that works for you.

Hi,

what does this mean for when new items / knowledge is added - will this automatically be indexed, or do we need to periodically 'index all tables'?

Thanks

Yes, they should be automatically indexed - you should not need to manually "index all tables" after the first setup unless your search configuration changes.

One note, which I recently realized, if you add new Knowledge Templates (or any other child tables), you will need to add those new tables to your AI Search configuration and then at least index those tables.
