State and Substate fields are being updated to their previously set values by the system

Hi Everyone,
State and Substate field values of asset records are being updated to their previously set values by the system, same with Install status and sub status of their associated CI records even though there are no updates made on the records for some time.

since no changes were made in between, BR's and Client scripts can be ruled out. 
Are there any rules that could cause this ?

Look for a scheduled job that has a script that effects this table, or cmdb_ci, and maybe executes periodically around this time, though it could have been run once or off-schedule.
