I'm new to the platform, but I've been working as a product specialist at the company for 4 months. I'd like to deepen my knowledge of the platform, and as a product specialist, what courses would you recommend? Do you have any certification recommendations as well?

Hi @victorayarz, Welcome to the platform.
As a product specialist, focus first on core platform knowledge:
Start with Welcome to ServiceNow (free on-demand) for basics, then take ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals (on-demand or instructor-led) to prep for the Certified System Administrator (CSA)—this is the essential entry-level cert that proves you understand navigation, configuration, data model, etc.
From there, dive into product-specific courses based on your focus area (e.g., ITSM Fundamentals if you're in IT Service Management, or similar for HRSD, CSM, etc.).
All these are available on Now Learning (learning.servicenow.com), highly recommend starting there for free/on-demand options.
These guides also explain the certification framework and ITSM certification path:

FYI- Story from my--
A few months ago, I was completely new to ServiceNow. I didn’t know where to start or how the platform worked. Everything looked confusing at first, and I felt like learning it would take a very long time.
While searching on YouTube for some guidance, I came across Sir’s channel. That’s where my ServiceNow learning journey actually started. His way of explaining concepts in a simple and practical manner made things much easier to understand. Step by step, I started learning the basics, practicing in my own instance, and gradually building confidence.
Over the months, I realised how much I had grown. From not knowing anything about ServiceNow, I can now say that I’m no longer a beginner. There is still a lot to learn, but the foundation has become strong.
My small suggestion to anyone who is starting with ServiceNow: try learning from Atul Sir’s channel. Stay consistent, practice regularly, and keep exploring the platform. If you keep learning with dedication, I’m sure you’ll soon become confident and move towards becoming an expert.

Hello @victorayarz ,
When you start exploring ServiceNow PDI, begin with understanding the basic platform UI:
Application Navigator, Banner, Content Frame (UI16)
Explore Forms and List Views
Company Branding and changing the Welcome Page
Context Menu (what it is and its types)
Breadcrumbs and how they work
Next, move on to data modeling basics:
Table and Field creation
Table dependencies and Table Extensions
Field types
Views
Important OOTB tables like User (sys_user), Group (sys_user_group), Role (sys_user_role), Delegations
Once you are comfortable with this, explore core configuration concepts:
Reference Qualifiers
Dot-walking
UI Policies
Dictionary Overrides
ACLs
Priority Lookup
Difference between Configuration vs Customization
Then understand data movement and backup concepts:
Update Sets (how to take backup of your work)
Update Set transfer methods
Import Sets
After learning these basics, you can confidently move forward to explore Service Management modules like:
Incident
Problem
Change
Request
And then deep dive into the Development part.
Then start with Certified System Administrator (CSA) – First & Mandatory
CSA is the basic and most important certification for ServiceNow beginners
It helps you understand how the ServiceNow platform works
Main topics to focus on:
Platform UI and navigation
Tables, fields, forms, and list views
Users, groups, and roles
Basic ITSM concepts
UI Policies, Client Scripts, and Business Rules (basic understanding)
Best practices:
Practice each topic in your Personal Developer Instance (PDI)
Do not just memorize answers—try to understand why a feature is used and when to use it
After ITSM Module , another important module is HRSD (Human Resources Service Delivery), which helps organizations automate and manage HR-related services for employees. HRSD provides capabilities such as employee case management, HR service catalogs, knowledge management for HR policies, and onboarding or offboarding processes. This allows employees to easily request HR services like leave approvals, employment verification letters, or onboarding tasks through a centralized portal.
ServiceNow also offers GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance), which helps organizations manage risks, maintain compliance with regulations, and enforce internal policies. GRC includes capabilities such as risk management, policy and compliance management, and audit management, allowing organizations to identify risks, track compliance requirements, and manage audits efficiently.
Another powerful module is ITOM (IT Operations Management), which focuses on managing and monitoring IT infrastructure. ITOM includes features such as Discovery, which automatically identifies devices and infrastructure in a network, Service Mapping, which maps business services to underlying infrastructure components, Event Management, which detects and manages system alerts, and Operational Intelligence, which uses analytics and AI to predict potential issues before they impact services.
Once you follow this path, your ServiceNow learning journey will be smooth and structured
Try to spend 2-3 hours daily on community which will help you understand different real time scenarios ,different approaches . Explore University Course which also enhance your knowledge.
Start with the "Welcome to ServiceNow " training, it's really good and it will gives you your first certificate!
The Certified System Administrator (CSA) certificate is initial stage , it's useful for almost for any servicenow role .
You can also explore Learning plans from below :
