Seeking Official ServiceNow Guidance on Fit-to-Standard

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for official ServiceNow documentation or web pages that strongly advocate for a Fit-to-Standard approach.

I understand the importance of leveraging OOTB functionality, and I'm aiming to create a governance policy that reinforces this. Ideally, I'd like to back this policy with official messaging from ServiceNow.

Specifically, I'm looking for resources that emphasize not just using the platform's features as-is, but also the value of adapting business processes to align with ServiceNow's capabilities. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Kohei Tominaga1

I agree that ServiceNow always encourages going as much out-of-the-box (OOTB) as possible. Now, to find the best place to search for these kinds of documents, go to learning.servicenow.com/nowcreate. Under Asset and Success Packs, you can find relevant resources.

Check any NowLearning course, NowCreate, etc.

But do define OOB/standard within your policy. Not every customization is bad and sometimes they are even needed.
Example: SPM Implementation will be done based on a huge list of question on how the system should work for the company. Every update you make, is something that is no longer OOB, but it's the way ServiceNow wants us to implement it.
