Best IRE setup for Servers and Network Switch to prevent duplicates

HI,
Our client was using OOB IRE setup for most of the CIs.
We are seeing so many duplicates and we want to perform the cleanup activity and review the IRE rules for all classes.
Please advise if there is any best practices to do this activity. Also share if there is best IRE setup already if you have for main classes. (Servers (Windows/Linux), Network Switches, router interfaces ...etc)

The identification rules for each CI class should be reviewed first. Then find out the various data sources which are populating data in each CI class. Make a list of the unique attributes present in various data sources of each CI class. Also it is important to have discussions with key stakeholders like configuration manager, owners of various CI classes, owners of various data sources etc. before finalizing how to define the identification rules for each CI class.
