Hi SN community folks,
I am working for Retail/POS industry, and I would like to know have anyone have defined any CI classes for the remote site devices? especially of those Verifone or other company "Pinpad" devices , Verifone commander devices?
These specific devices are like proprietary devices and kind of like appliance ( blackbox) and have their own OS so there is no real way to say what CI class they fall under. I was not able to find any appliance CI cliass under SN CI Class manager as it shows Network appliance hardware and network appliance hostname that doesn't help much as they are not actually a network appliance, please let me know if anyone has any insight what CMDB CI class should be placed under for those specific remote site devices?

Check whether any of the following classes are helpful:
Point of Sale Device (cmdb_ci_pos)
Payment device (cmdb_ci_payment)

You are correct. I have worked in/with Retail for a while and there simply is no class for these kinds of devices in ServiceNow. We decided back then to just get some people around the table to define what needs to be in the system and what not (we didn't have integrations to get the devices automatically in the system). We decided on the devices and the fields and created the POS class under cmdb_ci_hardware and child classes under that for the different types of devices and added class specific fields on the level where they were the most useful to be inherited into the lower classes.
Please mark any helpful or correct solutions as such. That helps others find their solutions.

Thank you Mark. That's exactly I was thinking to create the custom child class/es under hardware as there won't be any specific class available SN OOTB solution. Appreciate your inputs.
