Can you please elaborate the use case for cloning it? If the purpose is to track some of the input devices as assets instead of consumables, then the recommended solution is to create appropriate model categories for these (or use OOB model categories if available) and then use alm_hardware as the Asset class and an appropriate CI class based on the type of device. Creation of a new asset class should be avoided unless there is a business objective which cannot be achieved using existing asset classes.
Also please note that Consumables are not supposed to have a CI class mapped to it and they use the State of 'Consumed' instead of 'Retired' State which assets have (As the individual units are typically low cost and so are considered as consumed once they are fully consumed or damaged or unfit for use based on the type of consumable)
