Identification & Reconciliation

Hello,

I am looking into IRE Reconciliation rules and trying to implement them. We have multiple integrations using the IRE, and sometimes the integrations share CIs (but may have differing data). In order to stop data from flipping back and forth between the integration syncs, reconciliation rules seem like the fix.

However, I have had zero luck implementing them. I have added the rules at the parent level of CMDB, and we are still seeing CI data flip back and forth when in both of the integrations but with slightly different data. I have looked into multiple different articles on Reconciliation Rules, and it seems that I am creating them correctly. I have found in this: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0756709 that the IRE checks a table cmdb_datasource_last_update  when deciding precedence, however, I do not see any of the integration datasources listed on that table - only 'ServiceNow'. Could this be why the rules are not holding? Why are our rules not populating on cmdb_datasource_last_update ? We can see the 'Data source' field on CMDB being correctly populated for CIs...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @chsmith11

I would suggest you look in to the CMDB 360/Multisource CMDB feature. Make sure to also check Components related to CMDB 360.

It will give you a better insigt in to how your data is populated.

There is also a course on NowLearning called Configuring the CMDB that covers this.

Hope this helps.

I have covered this topic in the following article. Check if it is helpful:

If the rules were set correctly, you should enable CMDB360 (Multisource CMDB) and analyze the data coming from each source. If you are still not able to identify the issue, raise a hi-ticket to check with ServiceNow by clearly explaining the issue in detail along with the findings of your analysis.
