IH-ETL Multiple input/output script unable to access output object

I have created an ETL transform in a scope and all is well except for the multiple input/output script.  When I debug, I see that I am unable to set the output fields of "output" and also, I notice that the input values are set properly upon each iteration of the loop, but the loop index var i remains with value 0.  This is very strange behavior.
