Issues with CI search in the SCTask form

Hello, I want to preface this that we are currently working on cleaning up our CMDB, so the issue we are having may not be normal or desired actions. We are trying to have our field techs start filling out the CI field in their "Requests/SCTasks" and "Incidents". However, when we did our initial import, we didn't realize that ServiceNow CIs depended on the "name" field so heavily, so we filled it with just the name of the hardware, ie, "iPhone 11", "Dell Inspiron" etc. We did, however, fill the "Asset Tag" field with our unique identifier we use for every asset. Something like A123456, depending on the type of asset. I need to be able to search for assets using that field. I started playing with the dictionary to get that to work the way we wanted it to, and ended up with this.

However, now, when I do a search, it's STILL only accepting "name" as the input, but it shows the "Asset Tag" on the side. I can't search via the "Asset Tag" either still.

I'm at a loss at this point to know how to fix this. From the documentation I found, this appears to be the way to do it, but it's not working.
