We have a requirement to get technical teams to audit and validate CIs. However, I can see both CI attestation and Data certification can be used.
Could someone help with understanding what each feature is better suited for? What kinds of scenarios could be used in each and what are the differences?
I understand that data certification allows validation of non-CMDB tables, but it isn't too clear why there is a cross-over between the 2 features. Look forward to your

Hi @Chaz_,
Have you checked the below post, there's some useful and relevant points and links to video's to help answer the question for you.
Here's a good summary however:
To summarize,
- Attestation verifies a CI record represents something that's still being managed, if not then the CI record should be retired/removed from the CMDB.
- Certification verifies the data in a record is accurate, if not then the data needs to be updated.

Does anyone know if there is anything on the roadmap to improve Data certification? Its a process which users generally find difficult to use and there is low uptake, although a critical feature in maintaining an accurate CMDB.
Thanks.

Hi @Chaz_,
Sadly I haven't seen anything with regards to the future improvements or roadmap for Certification, however make sure you keep the following link bookmarked which is ServiceNow's official Data Certification information link where all information and updates will be added.
