Hi all. Newbie CMDB learner here. I know they say there are no dumb questions, but hang on. Taking a course and doing a short capstone video with several CI tasks to complete. Create a new Identification rule, a new CI reconciliation rule,...etc. and "run" to see results. No problem creating everything, just not sure where to go to run it? Do I create a Discovery schedule or is there a better way to test a CI rule?

Hi @dranoeld In CMDB we can populate data in three way
1.By Manual entry
2.Discovery
3.Integrations
Here according to the granuality of data we create reconciliation rules with respective Data sources through CI Class manager
For example you are uploading computer data through Excel sheet if this is your precedence
Navigate to CI Class Manager -> Choose Computer Class
Define a reconciliation rule
Discovery source is Import set and give a value.
If you getting same data with another source it won't update because of the rule .
Identification rule : A new CI would be created if no CI is found.
Mark it helpful and Accept the solution!! If this helps you to understand.

@dranoeld To test these rules, yes a discovery would be the way to go. But you don't need to set up a schedule to do so. You can use a Quick Discovery directly against the IP address of the device you want to test.
