If you have access to Nowlearning, go through the following CMDB fundamentals course and also complete the simulators to practice. This is the best way to start learning about CMDB.

If you don't have access to Nowlearning, learn about some of the key topics which i mentioned below from servicenow docs, youtube, community etc. and also practice on your PDI:

1, CMDB data population methods like ServiceNow discovery, Service mapping, Service Graph Connectors and ACC. Understanding the basics of these is enough if your focus is more on the CMDB process and data management side. Discovery and some of the Service Graph Connectors (E.g. SCCM, intune) are the most commonly used methods apart from manual data population (Integration hub ETL is the preferred method for this).

2. Common Service Data Model (CSDM). Read CSDM 4.0 whitepaper

3. Learn about the important CI classes like Servers, Computers, Network devices, Storage devices, Databases, Applications, various types of services etc. and their important data attributes

4. Understand how to use 'CI class manager'

5. CMDB health dashboard. Understand how to configure health metrics.

7. CI identification rules and reconciliation rules
