Using Dynamic CI Groups to set Support Group

Patrick Brown

I'm trying to set the Support Group on several related CIs.  I have created a Dynamin CI Group and related CI Group.  This is populated via query.  This part is working fine.

The CI's still have the Support Group set to null.  Do I need to create a Technical Service Offering and link it to the Dynamic CI Group?  Is there a scheduled job that needs to run?

Thanks,

Hi @Patrick Brown,

Yes, you have to create a TSO in order to set the support group. Once done, you can execute the 'CSDM Data Sync' job to set the data. Normally, the job runs at 3 h in the morning.

Here is the doc, that provides guidance on setting groups: Synchronizing group assignment attributes

Hope this helps!

To populate the support group, is the CI needs to be newly created or can we populate support group for older CI's as well using CSDM data sync job

The job will run nightly, or can be run manually.  Note that it will overwrite if the support group is set somewhere else, as shown in the image above.

Correct, the job will follow the priority from the picture and make sure at least a managed group is set as a last resort. Regardless if it's a new or existing CI.
