Hi forum,
we all have recurring challenges to understand how to apply CSDM to our IT landscape in the "best" way. Many find CSDM abstract and difficult to relate to. Those who know the organization's systems/services best don't know CSDM and ServiceNow, and vice versa.
As an exercise, I'd like to introduce an example, applying CSDM to the technology in a typical household.
I'm hoping to then run it as a workshop with various stakeholders and see if they then can understand and relate better.
Does anyone feel inclined to take a shot? I'm hoping we can piece together the puzzle together! Use as much or as little of the CSDM model that you find appropriate (screenshot at the bottom). Best of luck!

This is a great idea in theory. We too struggled with teaching our users the concepts of CSDM.
When we tried to equate it to something they knew in this manner it tended to confuse already confused people further.
Our project team had greater success working individually with each application stack owner, and assisting them with the modeling. This was a 9 month effort.
Additionally we created a SharePoint page with mini videos and transcripts that cover each tab of the framework. This is work that the data owners do not do on a regular basis. We were attempting to provide a quick way for them to hone in on what they were attempting to do, get help, and complete the required task at hand.
If someone from Servicenow is monitoring this thread, please consider implementing CSDM framework population methods that could be automated. End users and our management balk over the amount of manual work required. Many of our managers are non technical people managing technical resources. They absolutely struggle with the concepts.

I gave it a first shot. (as I like it). You can go all the way which becomes easily a wallpaper format.
Starting with an outline (added some other services).
No catalog yet, no underpinning solutions yet, very high level.
