Has anyone a use case for using population methode "dynamic Service"?
If Yes, can you explain what the steps are and how can i get the service map with Ci's; for example 3 Levels.
Thanks for help, Marcel

Hi Marcel,
Here Mark Bodman articulates this, I think. Dynamic aka Calculated services are a more 'intelligent' population method than Manual maps.
It seems that this method works for non-Discovery customers who (for a while) maintained manual Dependencies [cmdb_rel_ci], and now need them reflected in service maps [svc_ci_assoc].
Also see if this article by David Skowronek helps:

Hi KN,
Thanks a lot for your answer, it is very helpful. Espacially the link to the article from David Skowronek.
But now i have a further question:
In the wizard for a population methode, there is the possiblity to choose dynamic service. But in fact the only functional way ist to convert a manual methode to a dynamic service, right?
Thanks Marcel

Hi Marcel,
Not sure I understand your question. For Manual Service you create records in [svc_ci_assoc] manually (via Wizard). Manual service map ignores records in [cmdb_rel_ci].
For Dynamic Service it seems that records from [cmdb_rel_ci] are essentially copied to [svc_ci_assoc] and kept in sync.
Cheers

Hi KN
What i tried to explain is the following:
I have the possiblity to build an application Service from scratch with the Population Method. But i don't understand how that works.
But if you have an existing Application Service with manual Population Method you have the posibility to convert:
Now, can you explain what benefit i will have with that?
Thanks for Help, Marcel
