How do you treat applications running on servers

We are in the process of DRP/BCP planning. The planners want to mirror our CMDB taxonomy which we have adopted CSDM. There are a number of SFTP and NFS servers that support critical application services. These are applications running protocols. How would you classify these applications.

I see them as server CIs running those applications using those protocols.

Thoughts?

To me it sounds like you are describing what would end up in the Application Server structure - the applications that actually run on the hardware/virtual machines.

I'd add Technical Service as well as App Server that Kristen mentioned. Then you can add the TS as a dependency for the App Services that use it.
