A lot of organizations are moving from the old Project & Program setup to a Product based organization structure. The setup usually includes Product Streams, Product Lines, Product Groups & also an interface between Product & Platform teams. The old terminologies like 'Business line', 'Portfolio' etc. is getting refreshed with 'Product Streams'.
In terms of CSDM - can anyone guide how have they brought this transformation? Specifically, for a Product org structure which would include - Product Stream -> Product Line -> Products & an interface with Platforms, which tables within CSDM are recommended to be used for this setup?

Hi
Maybe you can get some inspiration in the prodyct hierarchy in release management -> Product hierarchy in Release Management (servicenow.com)
This uses - product catalog / models -> Application Model will probably be the product in CSDM, but not sure, as this is under development, I think.

Thx Stig. I had reviewed this. The Application Model or 'Product Models' in the Foundation in general seem to be associated with an Asset class (Eg: Asset, consumable, facility, hardware or a software license). The 'Product setup' will in general have logical entities which are probably similar to the old world departments. I could not figure out if we can map these logical entities within the Product Models.

Take a look at the Model Categories table and ensure you have records for classes like Business Application. Then associate existing and future product models to those model categories. You then should be able to associate configuration items to models via the model id reference field.

as Eric, there is other model type, you could to Service Model - but what ever model you choose, you need to map the model category to CI Class where you define your Product/Service -
