Track company usage of applications

Hello,

One of the requirements of my company's deployment is to track the usage of applications based on the company. The business model of my company is a parent company with multiple subsidiary companies. Each has its own environment but there are some shared services across the enterprise.

On the CI record, there is a "company" field, but this would only allow us to populate one company, some CIs are used by multiple subsidiaries.

How are other people tracking this? Would this be a good use case for Information Objects?

Thank you!

Hi Matthew,

if it is about IT providing Applications to sub-organizations then it often is done via Business Services/Business Service Offerings. On the Service Offering level there are Subscription options (user, group, department, location and company). It calculates the total nr of users for such offering, but if creating Company Subscriptions you have a direct idea how many Companies are entitled for the Service Offering. In this case the Service Offering is the offering for the realized Application.

Hi Barry,

Thank you, This makes sense. Following the CSDM crawl/walk/run methodology, we're between the crawl/walk for our CSDM maturity.

What are the thoughts around subscribing companies at the Technical Service Offering instead of Business Service Offering?

Also, How would the Application Services be related to the companies they serve? For Instance, If I have an Application Service for Azure Active Directory (cloud based) and it provides data to all companies.

Thanks again!

Matt

Hi Matt- I know this is a bit of a zombie post, but I was wondering if you ever had any workable solution for this?  We are having the exact same questions (and are also pretty early in the CSDM maturity scale).

Thanks for your time!
