In the event of "what type of records do I need that may correspond with the CSDM methedology," start first with a story.  "As a (Persona) that is utilizing (Process) as part of a (Business Suite), what are the key tables for my processes?"

Depending on that persona and scope, the foundational data that is critical to success may adjust.  For instance, an IT Help Desk Agent using Incident Management may care about users, groups, locations, etc. but product models may not be of value.  But an Asset Management Manager that oversees Software Asset Management, product models and contracts are pretty critical.

If you have the information and can sustain the contract and product models, it is a huge win.

Hi @Piyush Dwivedi

Please check on the below documentation for the CSDM foundation data :

https://docs.servicenow.com/en-US/bundle/tokyo-servicenow-platform/page/product/csdm-implementation/...

Actually, if you Products(Models) & Contracts on a first go it would help you in further development where ever required.

Please mark answer helpful or as a solution.

Hi,

It does depend on the wider community that use the platform, an your organisation and the CIs they have i.e. if they have an urgent need to manage the contracts associated with your CIs, e.g. if your CMDB is starting is client devices and these are tightly managed through a contract with a supplier.

However otherwise I would say that Contract can be a maturity thing at a later date.

With regards Product Models, it again depends on the types of CIs you are loading, but I would say this is fairly key. It will help link CIs & Assets and also supports lots of data insight.

Cheers
