The Yokohama release is here, and it’s packed with new features and improvements for ServiceNow Studio! Whether you're a seasoned developer or just getting started, these updates will make development on the platform more efficient and intuitive.

ServiceNow Studio Now Comes Pre-Installed

A huge change in Yokohama is that ServiceNow Studio is now installed by default on all upgraded instances. No more manual installations—just start building right away! However, keep in mind that the version that comes pre-installed may be slightly outdated. If you want the latest features, you’ll need to manually upgrade to the newest version via the All Applications menu.

Experience Switching: Move Between IDE, Studio, and Creator Studio

One of the biggest usability improvements is the new experience switcher, allowing developers to seamlessly move between:
ServiceNow Studio – The centralized pro-code development hub.
ServiceNow IDE – A code-first experience using Fluent development.
Creator Studio – A low-code environment for building request fulfillment apps.

This means no more jumping back to the platform UI to navigate between different environments—just switch with a single click!

Role-Based Access Control for Developer Studios

Admins now have finer control over who can access which development environments.

  • Assign roles to restrict low-code developers to Creator Studio only.
  • Allow pro-code developers to access all three experiences.
  • Customize access levels based on your organization’s needs.

Full App Details View: More Insights, Less Hassle

Previously, developers had to jump back to the platform to access full app details. With Yokohama, you can now view the complete app metadata, UI actions, and related lists directly within ServiceNow Studio.

AI-Powered App Summarization: Smarter Documentation

ServiceNow is integrating Generative AI to improve developer efficiency. The new App Summarization feature automatically analyzes your app’s metadata and generates a concise summary, making documentation and governance easier.

But it doesn’t stop there—this lays the groundwork for automated change tracking, governance approvals, and app lifecycle management in the future!

Performance Enhancements: Faster, Smoother Development

  • Improved file navigation speeds up loading times for large applications.
  • AI-powered search (coming soon) will provide more relevant results for finding files, records, and configurations inside ServiceNow Studio.
  • Dark Mode support for developers who prefer a darker UI experience.

Coming Soon: What’s Next for ServiceNow Studio?

The Yokohama release is just the beginning. Here’s what’s on the roadmap:
🚀 Direct App Links – Quickly jump between Creator Studio and ServiceNow Studio.
🛠 Enhanced App Overview Page – New visualizations and summaries of app relationships.
📂 Built-in Source Control – Full Git integration for version management.

Final Thoughts

The Yokohama release takes ServiceNow Studio to the next level, making development more intuitive, efficient, and powerful. Whether you're a low-code creator or a pro-code developer, these updates will help you build faster and smarter.
