Use Case:

A widespread issue affecting numerous customers is the presence of duplicate Configuration Items (CIs) and the challenge of identifying these duplicates within the system landscape. Are there any out-of-the-box (OOB) capabilities available to address this problem?

 

Solution:

The following functionalities are designed to assist in identifying Configuration Item (CI) duplication. To address this issue, it is essential to focus on the Identification and Reconciliation Rules, as well as the Integration Import Set Table and Transform Maps.

 

On the CMDB Workspace Home Page, out-of-the-box (OOB) dashboards are available to help identify CI duplicates across various classes. Furthermore, a de-duplication task will be generated and monitored within the dashboard. When resolving duplicate CIs for each class, it is important to close the de-duplication task with relevant comments. This documentation will provide insights into how the CI duplication was resolved and will serve as guidance for others in your absence. Refer below screenshot to understand more.
