Creating Announcements from Outages

Morning all,

I have a received a requirement to be able to create Service Portal Announcements automatically when an Outage record is created. They thought this functionality was available in their Madrid developer instance, but I cannot find any reference to this and the web has little to no information about doing it. Is anyone aware of such functionality, or even if its possible?? I was thinking something like a Create Announcement checkbox on the outage form and a rule/script to copy the data from outage to announcement. The user could then choose which outages warrant creating announcements for.

Thanks

Hi,

Using a checkbox and then on insert, of that outage, initialize a new announcement with certain criteria like a start and end date and all that. Outages are already displayed on the SP through in the Current Status section. The problem I've seen in the past, is that when you use announcements all the time...it sort of defeats the purpose and people may less attention (albeit you're forcefully putting it in their face by making it an announcement across the top of the screen that they have to address (most likely)). So I would evaluate if using an announcement or giving that power to someone else...is a good idea.

Our company uses the OOB Current Status widget which taps in to the applications or business services and they show there. We echo that on the incident form as well so that if they were to submit an incident and didn't see it within the widget on the main page, they'll see it there (hopefully).
