Deactivation of field

Hi All,

        I want to deactivate a custom field and it should not be visible for end users on list layout or on reports lists. But When I made that field inactive, still I could see in list layout and editable. Is there any way to hide it or only way is to delete that field?

This is not the expected behaviour and is tracked as part of PRB650110. Fixed in Helsinki.

Hi Jeevitha,



Follow below steps to remove your field from list layout also:



1. Right click on list layout of your custom table-> Configure-> Click on List Layout.


2. Remove your field which you don't want to show on list layout from selected slush bucket to available slush bucket.


3. Save.

        Thanks for your response. Steps you told is for one time , what if users personalize layout later, it is still available on slushbucket to add in available slushbucket.

Basically once you deactivated the field then it will not show on list layout. Because once you deactivated the field it will not available in available slush bucket and also not in selected slush bucket.


But still try above steps which i have provided.

Its an unexpected behavior because its already fixed in Helsinki.


Currently on which servicenow version you are working?


I think you are not on Helsinki maybe you are using Fuji or Geneva.
