Hi All,
We are fairly new to Service now having only gone live in March. We currently have a long list of client contacts with several filters so we know who to email to notify when we have certain incidents. These filter the list by client company, products they have, and certain CIs.
We are now looking at the best way to add this information into SN so we can start sending our notifications to clients from SN rather than using email templates in outlook.
I was wondering on the best way to do this. Is it best to have a user created for each email (some of the emails are generic rather than individuals emails) - I have seen a post that mentioned about creating a user and having the user locked out so no one could log in as them. If this user was inactive would an email still send to them?
Would it be better to create a new module with a list of emails and then have various fields to select the CIs/products etc that they may need to be notified about.
Any help is greatly appreciated - just want to get an idea if anyone has already got some solutions to anything similar.
Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,
There are a few references to the user table already on the cmdb base table; owned by, managed by and supported by, so if you added your client contacts as users you would be able to leverage this functionality in any automation you might want to build out when ticket are raised against these CI's.
You can lock out users and still send them notifications, they just won't be able to login.
