Your question is a little misleading. What you need to do is structure your SLA so that it excludes the group that doesn't need it. So the conditions for firing the SLA would include an "Assignment Group IS NOT" whatever the group is you want to exclude.

Thanks for providing your input. I did setup an Assignment group Is Not under the SLA notification. Waiting to see if it works.
