How to get day wise case opened and closed reports

Hi All , 

I want to have a dashboard which gives the day wise case information on opened and closed records . some thing like below 

Can i achieve this without database views ?

Yes, off course you can 🙂

Create a report based on the incident table:

Next, chose time series column report:

Next, chose per day and other additional conditions of your choice e.g. resolved last week

Next, add a dataset in upper right cornor:

Do the same above, but this time the condition should be e.g. opened last week.

Do you refer to how to add the dataset or the additional dataset conditions? Where do you experience issues according to above guide that I wrote?
