Parent/Child Incidents.

  1. Hello.

In Service Now I have added in a related list on the Incident form called 'Incident > Parent' this so we can relate multiple incidents to the one record.

However we can't view that relationship on the child incident? I have also added in the RL Incident > Parent Incident.

Yet I still can't view the Parent incident from the child.

Can you please assist?

Thanks,

Graham

Hi Graham,

There are two parents for incidents: Parent (pointing to the "task" table) and Parent Incident (pointing to the "incident" table). I believe you're trying to use Parent Incident, if I understand you correctly. For that, on the Incident form,

  1. Show the "Parent Incident" field
  2. Show the "Incident -> Parent Incident" related list

You just need to make sure you're using "Parent Incident" for both of the above.

That related list should update the parent field of the child incidents.

Can you check if the parent field is filled or not?

If you look at the child you got a field called "Parent incident". There is no need for a related list since the child can only have one parent (OOB).
