I've 'inherited' an instance where the project management function hasn't been updated in many years and I've not had much exposure to the project management function previously as it wasn't being used in instances I've managed. There's now a drive to focus on the application, and potentially 'revamp' it (which gives me nightmares when people say that) and so I'm trying to get up to speed quickly to be able to support/develop it. What I'm initially focused on is getting to understand what the OOTB offering is and how to use that effectively and 'correctly'.
- PPM Standard isn't installed. Is there a way to tell what application is used for configuration of the project application? Is this part of ITSM or another application? I'm struggling to find anything via searching and reviewing product docs as everything seems to point to PPM.
- Are there any guides or documentation on how projects SHOULD be used OOTB with a non-PPM project application? I'm looking at things like project task relationships (e.g., using a project task with multiple child tasks), how the finance/durations/rate cards are expected to be configured, interact and populate, dependencies, etc. Ideally looking for a 'best practises' guide really.
- If there's any other helpful info available, that would be greatly appreciated.
