Question on ACL

Hi,

I have created a table called "Veda IT". I selected the access controls checkbox while creating the table, creating the "u_veda_it_user" role.

I have unchecked the "u_veda_it_user" at the application menu an module level.

I created a group

I added the "u_veda_it_user" role to the group.

Now I have two questions, please.

1. How can the group members (Tamara Declue) still see from the Application Menu and module level, even though I have removed the roles?

2. How is that Abel Tuter not able to see the application menu and module, since there is no role assigned at that level? I understand that he can't see the contents.

Hi @Community Alums

plesase keep in your mind that the navigation items (my single word for all the applications and modules) and table contents are not related to each other. Whatever you do with your navigation items has no impact on the table access rights. With the technical name in mind, users still can access the table.

And to answer the other question: Unfortunately, ServiceNow only offers the role option for the visibility of navigation items. No chance to leverage groups. And you HAVE to specify any role. Otherwise, they are really not visible (even for admins like Abel)

Hi @Community Alums

@Maik Skoddow correctly very correctly here, that for the 2nd question, need to create ACL and restrict the access basis on role and for 1st one, table is still accessible the way you configured the role.
