Subcategories in service portal catalog

Hey everyone,

I noticed in the service portal that the service catalog doesn't seem to support sub categories. All the subcategories in the catalog are in the sidebar with the main categories. Is there a way to change that? Or would I have to write something custom?

Yes... that is how it works in the Service Portal haha... I've already raised it as an issue with the team. The same problem exists in knowledge base. I'm working on a new set of widgets for Service Portal that addresses these issues along with several others. If you're interested shoot me an email I can show you some of what we've done.

You go   go the portal. ctrl+right click to get the menu and choose instance options. Then you choose nested under "category layout". Then hopefully it would be working. I rather see a + % - for the expand & collapse feature so it's easier for the user to understand it. So perhaps do some remodeling of the widget as well..


I am sorry but it is still not visible. I am an admin but possible do not have rights.

If you go into the designer mode and to this page. is it the OOB widget you got there? I got these options in my OOB widget for istanbul and Jakarta.


In my humble opinion... that is not a very good implementation. During our user testing, almost none of the users know to click on the folder icon. We have developed a new version of the category widget that we use with all our portals that greatly improves this.


I totally agree. I accidentally pressed the icon and found out about this...
