Every survey is an assessment, but not every assessment is a survey.
The key difference between surveys and assessments lies in their intent and depth of analysis:
Surveys are generally used to gather subjective feedback from users (e.g., customer satisfaction ratings). They are often lightweight, anonymous, and geared toward metrics like CSAT or NPS. For instance, in Financial Services Operations, surveys are used to measure customer satisfaction trends across cases.
Assessments, particularly in the context of Third-party Risk Management or Supplier Lifecycle Operations, are formal, structured evaluations used to determine compliance, risk, or other critical factors. These are more in-depth, may involve multiple reviewers or approvers, and can trigger workflows based on results (e.g., risk scoring, onboarding decisions).
