Unable to assign new PDI after previous PDI (dev396323) was reclaimed

Hello Team,

I am unable to request a new Personal Developer Instance (PDI).

My details are:

  • Developer account email: vachanasp94@gmail.com

  • Previous PDI: dev396323

  • I created the PDI during the first week of May 2026.

  • I later received an inactivity warning email stating that the PDI would be reclaimed.

  • The PDI is no longer visible in my Developer Portal.

  • The portal now shows "Request your instance".

  • Whenever I try to request a new PDI, I receive the error message: "Unable to assign instance".

I have already:

  • Logged in using the correct developer account.

  • Tried requesting the latest release.

  • Tried multiple times from different sessions.

Could you please verify whether there is any issue with my account or if there is a PDI allocation problem preventing a new instance from being assigned?

Thank you for your help.

Hi

Please request a new PDI,

I've been using PDI without any issues since this morning, but I've noticed several posts in the community about PDI being offline. Here are some points to consider:

  1. There is no support available for PDI.
  2. If you can wait, let's wait a bit longer.
  3. You can release this instance and start a new one, but you will lose your previous data. To avoid losing update sets in the future, make sure to take regular backups of your PDI.

There have been 3-4 posts in the community today about PDI failures or unavailability. Based on the responses, you might need to wait 1-2 days and hopefully, the PDI will be back online.

Hi @VachanaS

Try to request for Yokohama or Zurich version and later upgrade to Australia version.

Hi @VachanaS

1.  There is no support available for PDI.  Sometimes instance pools run low. Try again during off-peak hours on the ServiceNow Developer Portal.

"The Developer Program no longer monitors the community for Personal Developer Instance (PDI)-related issues. To get PDI support, open the Developer Site < https://developer.servicenow.com > and click the Give Feedback button."

Developer Program no longer monitors the community (PDIs).

2.  a. If you are doing training (lab instance), you may have reached the maximum allowed instances i.e 2. You can reach out through Now Learning Support to reset limits.

b.Go to your Now Learning Dashboard and terminate any active lab instances for other courses that you are not actively focusing on to free up the slot

  c.

If it is you lab instance in Servicenow University and if you are unable to find in which other 2 course - you already requested lab instance, You can take Now learning support help.

Raise a case to Now Learning support.

I am unable to get a new PDI, I am able to request it but it fails.

I noticed the non-Australia Releases are saying you have to join a waiting list and I was going to attempt an older Release due to an issue I am seeing in Australia.

I released my Australia build to get an older version for testing and after seeing the waiting list have been attempting to get a new Australia build to confirm the issue as the older releases are not currently/readily available.
