Visual Task Board - Removing Assignees

I'm trying to figure out how to remove Assignees from a Visual Task Board.

Removing a Member is easy - just click on the Remove button beside their name in the Users list.

However, Assignees don't have the Remove button. Promoting them to a Member and then removing them doesn't actually remove them - refresh the board and they're back as Assignees.

I can't find any documentation on the difference between Members or Assignees so I'm not even why I can't remove them.

TIA.

I wound up logging a HI ticket. Here's what I've learned.

Assignees on a VTB are calculated from everyone who is assigned a task that appears on the board. They can't be 'removed' from the list of users per se.

My VTB in question was showing Tasks by State and was showing both open and closed states. Even removing the lanes for all Closed states didn't remove the Assignees.

The KEY piece of information that I learned is that the VTB displays records based on the dataset used to create the board. This cannot be changed after the board is built. So, my VTB was built off the Task table with no additional filters. That's why I'm seeing Assignees even if they only have closed tasks.

The trick is to determine what you want the board to display and then build it with the appropriate filter. So I built a test board that was pre-filtered to the assignment group and to open tasks only. That did the trick and now Assignees without any open tasks are no longer displayed.

I hope this helps someone else out as well.

What's your visual board showing?

Does it show data for incidents which has assignee's?

If yes, then you can't remove assignee unless it's cleared from corresponding record.

Sachin

I wondered if that might be it.

So, if an assignee has no tasks on the board, then they can be removed? Or is it limited to open tasks?

(This particular board has lanes for closed tasks, perhaps they should remove those lanes.)
