Hi Team,
After upgrading the instance to Rome upgrade we are seeing the announcement in Portal Homepage "Employee Center Portal"
What is the use or purpose of this Portal if we download?
If we didn't download this portal will the old 'sp' portal work?
What is the difference between old portal (sp) and this employee center?
Thanks in Advance,
Bala

Hi
The announcement which you see now on RED, its an OOB announcement to make you aware of using Employee center.
Refer this doc to learn about Employee center :https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-employee-service-management/page/product/employee-center/concept/employee-center-landing-page.html
The following table lists the key differences between the Service Portal and Employee Center portal.
Employee Center | Service Portal |
---|---|
Best-practice based portal experience with pre-loaded widgets organized coherently across the portal. | Demo home page design where customers start from scratch to design their desired experience. |
Dynamically created topic pages based on unified taxonomy for all content types across departments. | Requires designing, creating, and maintaining individual topic pages. |
Highly scalable: all portal elements, including widgets, are designed to scale for enterprise service delivery. | Need to redesign the portal with every new use case or department added. |
Unified taxonomy enabled AI search that allows browsing different content types, across departments, without switching pages. | Content is siloed across different content type and departments with poor search experience. |
Unified taxonomy for all content types that drives employee-centric content discovery. |
Ineffective content discovery leading to difficulty in defining an employee centric taxonomy for navigation across the portals. |
Mark my answer correct & Helpful, if Applicable.
Thanks,
Sandeep

It is an OOB announcement where you can see for the first-time when you opened ESC portal.
Under Announcements table you can see this:
https://<instance-name>.service-now.com/announcement.do?sys_id=74df20265310301024dfddeeff7b1242&sysparm_view=&sysparm_record_target=announcement&sysparm_record_row=3&sysparm_record_list=active%3Dtrue%5EORDERBYname&sysparm_record_rows=3
Thanks

Hi there,
There was a question on almost the same two days ago.
Basically, it's just an announcement. An announcement for sp_admin and higher. So regular snc_internal or itil users for example, WON'T see this message.
It's just an informative message about Employee Center. Employee Center, which is since Quebec to go to from ServiceNow instead of Service Portal.
