Hi,

After upgrade from utah to vancouver, I have found ATF test steps in "Copies to Review" related list. Some of them are in disposition state of "base inserted" & "base updated". What Resolution action needs to be taken on these..?

Description

This article describes the meaning of records from the 'Copies to Review' section within Upgrade History Details.

When viewing Upgrade History Details:
The 'Copies to Review' field is the total number of copied records to review whose base record has been upgraded.
The 'Copies to Review' related list contains the test steps which were added or updated when the instance was upgraded that differs from a copied version of the test.

Release or Environment

Instances which use the 'Copy test' option within Automated Test Framework (ATF), such as making copies of quick start tests.

Cause

A common use of ATF is to copy quick start tests that are provided from a plugin activation, so users can modify the copied test instead of the base version of the test. A copied test will show the name of the base test in the field 'Copied from' field.

When an instance is upgraded, the base version of the test may be updated. If the base version of the test was updated, going to the copied test form will display notifications to list what has changed (for example, if a step was changed or inserted).

'Quick start tests' are a good example. 'Quick start tests' are ServiceNow platform-provided tests to validate that your instance works after you make any configuration changes. The tests can only produce a pass result when you run them with the default demo data that's provided with the application or feature plugin. Each application or feature has its own plugin activation requirements for enabling quick start tests. Users will copy and customize the ServiceNow-provided quick start tests to pass when using their instance-specific data.

When the test is copied, there is now:
- the ServiceNow-provided test (base version)
- the customized test (copied version)

When an instance is upgraded, for example, an additional step might be added the base version of the test. Or, an existing step might have changed in the base version of the test. Whatever the update is, when the base version of the test has changed from an upgrade, any copies of it will now need to be reviewed to make sure they work.

Resolution

Resolve the conflicts of the copied test and the updated base version of the test:

1. Go to Upgrade History (New York)
- In the Upgrade History Details view there is a new field labeled 'Copies to review' for the number of tests.
- There is also 2 new related lists, 'Copies to Review' and 'Copies Reviewed', to look at the test steps which were added or updated.
2. View the 'Copies to Review' related list to see the unresolved steps
3. Opening a record will display comments of what was changed
4. Notifications at the top of the form will contain links to toggle between copied and base version for comparison
5. Determine what changes (if any) need to be made or choose to 'Revert Copy to Base System'
- The 'Copies Reviewed' are the resolved steps.
