Hello all,
just a simple and basic question about PPM (Portfolio Manager) module. Is it belonging to some "general units" such as ITSM, Service management etc ? Or is it standalone, that is a single module, within ServiceNow?
Thanks a lot

Anticipating follow up dependencies and interactions here since you are in the DPM section, so, took this a bit beyond your original question.
The Project Portfolio Management (PPM) module in ServiceNow is part of the broader IT Business Management (ITBM) suite. While it can function independently, it is designed to integrate seamlessly with other modules such as IT Service Management (ITSM) and Service Management. This integration allows for comprehensive visibility and management of projects, resources, and portfolios across various business units
However where I see Project work feed into DPM and Service Management is from Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)... So what are the differences there?
Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) in ServiceNow serve different purposes, though they are related and can complement each other:
Scope and Focus:
SPM: Focuses on aligning projects and investments with strategic business objectives. It involves prioritizing and managing portfolios to ensure they deliver maximum value and support long-term goals
PPM: Concentrates on managing a portfolio of projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and effectively. It includes planning, tracking, and delivering projects to meet specific objectives.
Integration:
SPM: Provides a broader view of how various portfolios contribute to strategic goals, often integrating with financial management and resource planning.
PPM: Typically integrates with operational modules like ITSM to manage project execution and resource allocation.
Features:
SPM: Includes tools for portfolio prioritization, resource management, risk assessment, and strategic alignment.
PPM: Offers features for project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
In essence, SPM is more about strategic alignment and long-term planning, while PPM is focused on the tactical execution of projects within those strategic frameworks.
Now we in our org are just getting into the idea of showing Project work in DPM, where you see it in the planning and build tabs of the items within DPM. PPM has not been a consideration as the idea is that we feed from SPM. Maybe PPM feeds into SPM for content and then that delivers to DPM as there are likely shared tables.
