ServiceNow Enterprise Asset Management on the Now Platform Washington D.C. release

ServiceNow® Enterprise Asset Management empowers organizations to oversee the complete lifecycle of their physical business assets, aligning with financial and operational objectives. Enterprise Asset Management maximizes asset life and use with planned maintenance schedules. It also enables users to optimize asset inventory levels for improved balance sheet performance, minimizing stockouts and excess items.

In the Now Platform® Washington D.C. release, the three most notable features for ServiceNow Enterprise Asset Management are:

  1. Asset total cost of ownership
  2. Indoor mapping
  3. Work management optimized workflow

Asset total cost of ownership

Asset managers often struggle to calculate and understand the total cost of an asset throughout its lifetime due to its complex nature and the need to use data in multiple different systems. This makes it difficult for businesses to make fully informed decisions regarding replacing, repairing, repurchasing an asset. Asset total cost of ownership (TCO) calculates the total cost of an enterprise asset throughout its lifecycle, including the initial capital cost and the operation cost. Users can also break down costs by expense categories and view comparative reports in a vertical bar chart format where each bar is a data source.

 Indoor mapping

It can be difficult and time-consuming to locate assets without specific and accurate location data. The business need is to view the location of assets within a building or facility. Indoor mapping offers an interactive indoor map, which allows users to locate and visualize enterprise assets mapped to physical spaces. The map displays an overhead view of the building with detailed floor plans and clearly marked rooms and areas. Asset locations are represented as distinct markers, each corresponding to a specific location. Users can filter the map to display specific asset types and search for assets based on specific attributes or categories.

Work management optimized workflow

Asset technicians can struggle to efficiently complete work management tasks. With Work management optimized workflow, technicians can optimize work management activities to reduce time by performing bulk closure of work order tasks, partial sourcing of parts requirement, and creation of checklist templates from work order templates.

Feature/Capability

Description

Mobile work order tasks

Customers can now view and manage all the work order tasks assigned to them and their group. They can select and assign tasks, record the time taken to complete tasks, and access other resources.

Asset hierarchy visualization

Asset managers can visibility into hierarchy details of assets directly on the contextual sidebar of Enterprise Asset Workspace. Users can view the asset hierarchy up to three levels in a tree-like format or expand and view all the children of the asset.

Admin center

The admin center in the enterprise asset workspace enables customers to perform all administrative tasks. Perform tasks such as risk and TCO configuration, create model categories and linear asset types, and bulk import of models and assets.

Multi-asset onboarding

Use the multi-asset onboarding playbook to onboard multiple assets at one go. After a user submits a catalog request for onboarding assets, an asset onboarding task is created that triggers the playbook. Each catalog request has its own onboarding task. As each activity in the playbook is completed, users are taken to the next activity. When all the activities are completed, the multiple assets are successfully onboarded.

Procurement view

Track procurement-related requests and manage purchase orders easily by using the procurement view in the enterprise asset workspace.
