Configuring "Child Topic 1" as Horizontal View in Employee Center

Hello everyone,

I'm practising on my PDI to configure the Employee Center Mega-menu and have a question related to Child Topic 1. By default, all Child Topic 1 items without Child Topic 2 connections are grouped into a single column (ref: screenshot 1 below). However, I'm looking to split these items into separate columns for each Child Topic 1.

I've extensively reviewed the implementation of the OOTB 'Employee Center Navigation' widget and found that it is set to stay vertical, and there are associated rules. Any updates to this widget would require significant customization, which I'm hoping to avoid if possible.

I've explored the 'Advanced Portal Navigation' feature. While the latter comes close to what I need, it displays options vertically on the left side (ref: screenshot 2 below).

I was wondering if there is a way to achieve this? (ref: screenshot 3 below for my expectation)

Any insights or experiences with customizing the Employee Center Mega-menu would be greatly appreciated!

Screenshot 1: By default, all of child topic 1 that do not have child topic 2 will be grouped into 1 single column.

Screenshot 2: Implementation from 'Advanced Portal Navigation', looks good but it displays in vertical position.

There isn't a configuration option to accomplish this.  It would be a customization. May I ask the business reason for this?  It takes up a lot of real estate to have the individual top level topics by themselves.  Users should be able to differentiate level 1 and level 2 in screenshot 1, because of the bold font for the level 1 topics

Hi Susan, thank you, and I 100% agree with you.

I was playing around in my PDI and wanted to know how flexible and complex the menu can be customized. I also interested to know what are the options to design it in our ways.
