Employee Directory Profile Card

I first apologize because I am not a developer or coder in any way. But I'm looking for some assistance. 

 

We use EC Pro for our organization's intranet, and we have our profile cards for the employee directory. There are hyperlinks in it that call out to our phone system or outlook to call or email employees, as well as a hyperlink to click that employee's manager and go to their profile card. 

We currently utilize a personality test called Predictive Index, which has 17 behavioral profiles. Right now, we have knowledge articles for all the profiles where our employees can read more information about them. We are trying to get it where we could hyperlink the PI profile to a link to the knowledge article about that specific profile. I put it in the hands of a third party company that helps us with our servicenow stuff, but they said that you can't edit that section. Not entirely sure I believe that until you guys can confirm for me. 

 

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Hi @MeganCox,

The hyperlinks in the widget is based on field type, and that logic is hard coded in the widget. It is not possible to change that behavior via configuration alone.

 

To achieve what you are describing, you would need to clone and customize the widget. That is generally not recommended because it means you will own the widget going forward and will need to review/maintain it during future upgrades.

 

Inside the widget, there is a function that determines how links are rendered based on the field type (phone, email, reference, etc.). You would need to extend that logic to account for your PI profile field and build the URL to the corresponding knowledge article.
