Hi Team,
How can we integrate ServiceNow with Service Graph Connector for Solarwinds?
Is there any SQL Service Account in Solarwinds server required for establishing connection?
Can anyone please help me with this integration configuration.
Thanks in advance

Hi @Aswathy3 ,
Integrating ServiceNow with SolarWinds using the Service Graph Connector (SGC) typically involves setting up a data source in Service Graph Connector and configuring the necessary connections to retrieve data from SolarWinds. Here's a general outline of the steps involved:
-
Prepare SolarWinds Data Source: Ensure that SolarWinds is set up and running correctly. Identify the data you want to integrate with ServiceNow, such as devices, alerts, or events.
-
Install and Configure Service Graph Connector: Set up Service Graph Connector in your ServiceNow instance if it's not already installed. You may need appropriate permissions to install and configure connectors.
-
Create Data Source in SGC: In the ServiceNow instance, navigate to the Service Graph > Data Sources module. Create a new data source for SolarWinds and configure the necessary settings, such as authentication details, endpoint URL, and data retrieval frequency.
-
Define Data Models: Define the data models in ServiceNow for the SolarWinds data you want to import. This includes mapping fields between SolarWinds and ServiceNow to ensure data consistency.
-
Set up Data Sync: Configure the data sync settings in Service Graph Connector to specify how often data should be synchronized between SolarWinds and ServiceNow.
-
Test Connection: Test the connection between ServiceNow and SolarWinds to ensure that data retrieval is successful. This may involve using test queries or validating data synchronization logs.
Regarding the SQL Service Account requirement, it depends on how you plan to retrieve data from SolarWinds. If you're accessing SolarWinds data directly from its database using SQL queries, then you'll likely need a SQL Service Account with appropriate permissions to access the SolarWinds database. However, if you're using SolarWinds APIs or other methods to retrieve data, then a SQL Service Account may not be necessary.
It's important to follow best practices for security and data privacy when setting up integrations between ServiceNow and SolarWinds. Ensure that credentials and access permissions are securely managed and that data transmission is encrypted where necessary.
For specific configuration details and troubleshooting steps, you may refer to the official documentation provided by ServiceNow(Service Graph Connector for SolarWinds (2.4.1) Service Graph Connector for SolarWinds release notes ) and SolarWinds (https://documentation.solarwinds.com/), as well as any integration guides or resources available from both platforms. Additionally, reaching out to your organization's IT or system administration teams for assistance can be helpful in ensuring a smooth integration process.
Thanks
