How to use Recommended for you and Popular Topics widgets

Hey everyone,

I am looking for some additional help/advice on using both Recommended for you (relevant for you) and Popular Topics widgets.

I understand that these both should be using an algorithm to function how they operate with showing things recommended for the user logged in and popular topics (many users always clicking on these requests).

However, our system does not seem as it is doing any of that. For an example; when I recently changed one article to appear under a different topic page, that article then became a recommended article for me within the widget. That does not make sense as to why it would do that.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Are the widgets working properly for you?

Does anything within the widget itself (server script, etc..) need to modified in any way based on your company's system?

hi Rob,  Have you reviewed this documentation on the how recommended for you works - it differs based on whether you're entitled to ML or not.  The other thing to be mindful of is that its designed to work at scale so in a dev env with low usage you may see surprising behavior e.g. your activity could be sufficient for an item to be considered 'popular'.
