Menu URL to external site not working

Hi,

Im trying to create a menu URL item on the Employee Center with an external URL. For example cnn.com.

One of a way the url target attribute _blank is being ignored.. so Servicenow now add www.cnn.com (or partly) behind the normal / existing url.

Anybody has anythoughts how to solve this?

Don't think we are on the same page here.

You are showing an image for Parent Menu Item "More". Alexander is mentioning Parent Menu Item "Employee Center Menu".

The out-of-the-box "More" menu item is the only menu item appearing in the top menu of Employee Center. And yes this one works fine. Same as menu items within the new Employee Center footer, works fine.

Menu items under "Employee Center Menu" (except for the More option, since that's an exception in Employee Center design) appear in the subheader menu. There this issue of the URL (also with prefix https:// or http://) and target does occur.
This also has been confirmed by ServiceNow support as defect.

Kind regards,
Mark

indeed. Im looking to that sub menu item. Employee Center Pro menu where i would like to create an url to an external site / sharepoint.

An alternative might be using the "More" menu which is the only menu item visible in the main menu, or using the Footer. Luckely my customer wanted themselves to move the not working menu item to the footer, so no issue here anymore.

I did raise a support case anyway, to make ServiceNow aware of this. Though also preventing myself from looking into this issue for multiple hours. Since I know this simply won't just be a 10 minutes investigation and fix 😞

Kind regards,
Mark

Hi,

Alright, haha.

They're using EC Pro anyway and so yeah, I wasn't even working with or looking into EC Pro.

Either way folks...without using the http:// or https:// even when it gets fixed, it will most likely not work and will append the URL you listed to the end of your instance servicenow website.

So at the end of the day, for now, the note is: please use http:// or https://

As far as the rest of this, hopefully SN will fix it for the isolated menu area that this seems to be affecting.

Best of luck!
