Only admin can see the results

Hi All,

When end user search for a particular catalog item with keyword in search option of employee center , the results doesn't show the catalog item.

If the same end user navigates under topic and sub topics - the catalog item is displayed there.

So end user has to go to topic and subtopic to find the item and request , which is very painful.

If the admin searches for the same item with keyword in search field, then the item is displayed under search results for admin.

For catalog item:

visible elsewhere is checked

Available for is Desktop and Classic Mobile

Is there any other configuration for non-admin users ,that we need to take care of , to be able to search these catalog items from employee center ?

Kindly suggest,

Thanks,

Okay, as I remember it, and I tried to find the source for it, but I can't, then AI search does not use "keywords" in the search. But it might have changed since I can't find it. Maybe you can do a re-index of your catalog index (so the source you use in the AI search for catalog findings)?

It does however not explain why you can find it as an admin, and not as a non-admin. Normally that would suggest some kind of user criteria, but you are able to find it when you browse, and those are also applicable there (and I can see they are empty from your screenshot).

Hi @Talya as per your attachment i can see that categories is not assigned. assign the catalog item to any of the category then you can find it under that category.

Verify the following, which tend to be the most common.

  • Catalog item is in an active Catalog
  • It is assigned to an active Catalog Category
  • The Catalog is included in the portal record (i.e., if your portal record has individual catalogs listed on the Related List, yours must be included.)

@Susan Britt We are using employee center and Yes it is available for enduser, if he navigates to particular Topic > child topic .

Only issue is -it is not shown in search results to end user.

But it is shown in search results for admin.

Hi Talya,

If you're still having this issue, we just found a solution in our instances. We'd redone our Categorization to match the Topic Taxonomy as part of accessing the Catalog Page. If viewing the Child Categories from the Category, it displayed that it was assigned to "Service Catalog" but if viewing from the List view, it wasn't showing the assignment to the Service Catalog. We went through and assigned the new Categories (if there was a Grandchild one, just assigning to the Child cascaded down to them). No need to re-index or anything.
